James Bentley reflects a true Southern California upbringing. His formative years were spent in Sunland, on the furthest edge of Los Angeles County, he was destined to follow a path rich in visual culture.
The range of skills and media include, but are not limited to, fused glass, fine-art painting and drawing, photography, sculpture, printmaking, digital art, animation, and film. The work runs the full gamut of not only media, but also subject manner. The subject matter is influenced by an early Catholic school education, media-saturated childhood, as well as growing-up at the cultural cross-roads that are Los Angeles. The artworks range from architectural and vintage-inspired, to futuristic and pragmatic, while maintaining tongue-in-cheek cultural commentary. Bentleys love of art history, and music is apparent in the artwork.
He has a style that reflects his seven-year career as an effects artist and painter for the companies such as Warner Brothers, DreamWorks, and other notable production companies. Currently, he is the Digital Photography instructor at Burbank High School.
